| Previous to receiving the
recognition, Lori Sowash, the Ordinance Enforcement Officer, met
with the active brotherhood and interviewed many of our surrounding neighbors.
Mrs. Sowash felt, after dealing daily with the problems of other
Fraternities, that we deserved special recognition for being an
"example Fraternity." |

| The Proclamation
and a picture of the active brothers who were present to receive the
award can be found on display in the Chapter Room. The House
received a framed version of the Proclamation and each of the actives
received their own copy. Thank you to Dr. Strauss for providing
the picture of the brothers receiving the award.
Much thanks to Br. Adam Heggenstaller for
providing an article that summed the history, traditions, and values of
Tau Phi Delta used in describing the Fraternity to the other members of
the Borough Council.

| The Proclamation
reads as follows:
A Proclamation
WHEREAS, Tau Phi Delta Fraternity of
427 East Fairmount Avenue is consistently courteous to its neighbors, maintains
the appearance of its property year in and year out, and has complied completely
with all Borough ordinances for at least the last five years, and
WHEREAS, the Fraternity has taken
pride for two decades in working with the Borough of State College, taking part
in park improvements, trash removal, and overall beautification of
neighborhoods, and
WHEREAS, Tau Phi Delta has helped
build the professional and academic reputation of its members for more than 80
years,
NOW, THEREFORE, I proclaim Monday,
April 21, 2003, to be Tau Phi Delta Day in State College. It is an
opportunity to recognize each member of this outstanding fraternity, its
officers, dedicated advisors, board members and alumni for the contributions to
the community.
